Children bring home all kinds of germs from school and they generously pass them on to the rest of the family. If you are the mother o fa school age child, you already know this very well. Besides using basic steps such as balanced diet, exercise, sleep and good hygiene, there’s not a lot we can do to stop children from catching bugs but there is something we can do to protect ourselves or at least limit the effects if we do catch a bug.

Many people get antibiotics from a doctor when they come down with a cold. I have an alternative idea for you to get and stay well without using those drugs which often have lingering side effects. When you start to get that feeling of a stuffy nose, scratchy throat and the other symptoms of a cold, try this aromatherapy blend and knock those symptoms right out of the ball park. This may not be a cure for the common cold but it will clear the airways and since essential oils have antiviral qualities, they definitely won’t hurt.

Add the following oils to a large bowl of steaming water. Lean over, covering your head with a towel and spend a few minutes breathing in the vapors. This can be repeated once a day as necessary.
