Everybody has to wash their clothes but laundry detergent is expensive and also full of ingredients we don’t need. I just came across a recipe for laundry soap that you can make at home so I’m going to share it with you today. You will need one bar of casteel soap, one cup of Arm and Hammer super washing soda, a half cup of Borax and four cups of hot tap water.

To make the detergent, you first have to open the bar of casteel soap and let it air dry. When it is dry, grate the bar and add it to a saucepan with the hot water. Stir the mixture continually over medium low heat until the soap melts completely. Next, fill a five gallon bucket half full of hot tap water. Then add the melted soap, the washing soda and the borax. Stir the bucket until all of the powder is dissolved. Next, you fill the bucket to the top with more hot water, add 15 drops of lemon essential oil, 10 drops of lavender essential oil and 10 drops of tea tree essential oil. Finally, stir the mixture again and then cover it. For ease of use, save an empty laundry detergent bottle and fill it with your detergent. Be sure to shake the bottle before each use.
