natural cleansersToday’s blog is about 2 kinds of natural cleansers that will help you protect your vital energy naturally. The first is a hand cleanser that eliminates germs and keeps your hands clean without using chemicals. The second is a natural cleaning spray you can use to clean your sink, shower and bathtub. You will need a 1 ounce bottle with a flip top for the hand cleanser and a 4 ounce bottle for the cleaning spray. Aromahead’s leader, Andrea Butje calls the green cleanser the “Best Smelling Cleaning Spray.” After you try the green cleanser in the 4 ounce bottle you may want to use a 16 ounce bottle. If you do, just multiple the recipe by 4 or make the 4 ounce recipe 4 times.

Hand Cleanser Recipe

If you make the hand cleanser for children, cut the recipe in half.

Best Smelling Cleaning Spray

  • 3 ounces water
  • 2 teaspoons liquid castille soap (health food store)
  • 1 dash of vinegar
  • 5 drops peppermint
  • 15 drops lemon
  • 15 drops orange

Shake the bottle before using and test the spray on a small area first.


Remove Mold Naturally 2

dirty shower curtainHave you ever seen mold on your shower curtain? It’s really gross. You can make your own natural cleaning products to get rid of that ugly mold. It’s easy to make, it’s effective and you will feel good using it. Use this anti-fungal cleaning spray recipe regularly. The recipe is from the book Essential Living: Aromatherapy Recipes for Health and Home.

Use this cleaning spray on your shower curtain and damp areas of the bath or shower to prevent mold and mildew. You can also use it on your patio furniture and screened in porches. Do not use it on your skin though. The recipe below makes one 16 oz spray bottle.

Anti-fungal Cleaning Spray

Ingredients: 

  • 15 oz water
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 40 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 30 drops geranium essential oil
  • 40 drops palmarosa essential oil

Directions:

  1. Fill a 16 oz spray bottle with 15 oz water.
  2. Add the vinegar and essential oils.
  3. Shake the bottle vigorously before using.

 


Remove Mold Naturally

bathroomWould you like to get rid of mold in your home without harsh chemicals? You can use the natural cleaning power of tea tree essential oil, a really powerful natural antifungal. Tea tree essential oil promotes good health and immunity so you can clean your home and stay healthy at the same time. If you don’t have mold in your home, using tea tree once a week will keep it from ever developing. Believe me, keeping it from developing is a much easier than trying remove it.

Bathroom Mold Remover

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup borax
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 30 drops tea tree essential oil

Directions:

Mix the ingredients in a plastic container with a lid. The mixture is completely safe so don’t worry about getting it on you. The texture should be paste like. Simply apply a little to the mold, then scrape it off and rinse with water. For even more cleaning, spray the area with hydrogen peroxide after applying the mixture or you can let the bathroom mold remover sit on the mold for an hour  before you scrub it off. This natural method might not solve really bad mold problems, but it’s worth giving yours a shot. Thanks to Aromahead for the great recipe.


headacheI recently saw a friend as we were both leaving work and I thought she looked like she was going to have a stroke. One side of her face was very slack and I asked her how she felt. She said she had a migraine headache and was going home. I told her she looked like she needed to see a doctor. I just saw her again today and she looked fine but she told me she did go to the emergency room that day because she got lost on the way home! Migraine headaches are nothing to play around with and aromatherapy will not help you if you don’t use it in a preventative fashion.

Once a migraine attack begins, the sufferer may be unable to tolerate being touched or to smell essential oils but it is possible to use aromatherapy oils to arrest a full blown migraine attack by using the following methods:

  • Cold compresses with equal amounts of lavender and peppermint can be put on the forehead and temples. Change them as soon as they begin  to warm up.
  • Massage the temples with a very light touch using lavender essential oil only if touching the head does not make the pain worse.
  • Since many migraines seem to be due to a restricted blood supply to the brain, a warm or hot compress with a couple drops of marjoram on the back of the neck can increase the flow of blood to the head. Marjoram is a vasodilator (it causes blood vessels to expand somewhat) and of course the heat also helps.
  • Some migraines are the result of stress so regular massage to tension in the neck and shoulders is an excellent preventive measure. It is also advisable to include light tapping on the scalp at times when there is no pain.

Lastly, many people with migraines have food triggers that often involve cheese, chocolate and red wine and they should investigate that angle too. Other non-food triggers may cause an attack so migraine sufferers should pay close attention to bad lighting, industrial and household chemicals.
