Lavender for Sore Gums

If you wear dentures, I’ll bet you occasionally get sore gums. Recently I have been catching myself gritting my teeth and that has made my gums sore. On one side, I even had a blister. I have been consciously trying not to grit my teeth by keeping my teeth open as much as possible without opening my mouth but until three days ago, my gums were still very sore, no matter what I did.

I decided to put lavender on my gums because it is one of the few essential oils that can be used undiluted on the skin and it is a natural antibiotic, antiseptic, antidepressant, sedative and detoxifier that promotes healing and stimulates the immune system. Lavender also prompts the cells of a wound to regenerate more quickly and in this way, contributes to the healing process.

I started putting lavender on my gums before bed three days ago. Last night I could really tell that the sore spot was much better. It wasn’t completely gone but it was much less sore. It was so much better that I planned on writing this blog about it today. It’s not like me to let people know that I wear dentures but this was too awesome to not tell it. If you wear dentures or know someone who does, please keep this essential oil cure in mind. If your gums are sore because your dentures don’t fit right, please go see your dentist.
