I have been experimenting with some awesome essential oils lately and they have become an important part of my daily routine. They are a great way for me to stay stress-free and calm and to enjoy some awesome healing for my mind, body, and soul. I love using essential oils for my daily relaxation and health.

We live in a busy world and I need to have some time to just relax and enjoy the moment in my day-to-day life. It is hard for me to not feel like I am always running from one place to another. However, with these great essential oils, I can stay in a great mood and I can be focused and feel great in my busy life. I love getting new essential oils.

Finding some great carrier oils for my essential oils helps me to have the best experience for massage and for some aromatherapy as well. I love using carrier oils to dilute my essential oils and help them to carry their properties into my skin. The oils are perfect for helping me to feel and to look my best on a daily basis.

Treat Ugly Blackheads Naturally

Blocked sebum become blackheads (medically known as a comedo or comedones) when the surface cells develop sulfides which, in turn, contact  oxygen causing the cells to turn black. Blackheads are unsightly and can easily become infected. When you remove them and the opening just fills up again with more sebum; this condition is related to seborrhea, overproduction of the sebaceous glands. Even people with dry skin can develop blackheads, especially on the nose or chin but blackheads can develop practically anywhere on the body, as well as on the face. Wherever they develop, the treatment for blackheads is the same, they need to be removed.

To remove blackheads, get a bowl of steaming hot water with 2 tablespoons of cider vinegar added, put 1 drop of lavender essential oil on the water and cover your head with a towel, being sure to close off the sides too and steam your face for 10 minutes. Rinse the face with 1 teaspoon of cider vinegar mixed in a bowl of hot (but not boiling) water. If the blackheads are loose, squeeze gently taking care not to damage the skin. Then splash the face with a mixture of 2 ounces of mineral water, 2 teaspoons cider vinegar – I like Bragg‘s Natural Apple Cider brand, 1 teaspoon witch hazel, 2 drops each of bergamot and cypress essential oils.

After patting the skin dry, massage the following oils into the skin. This will help to prevent blackheads from coming back and also loosen the ones that are already there:

  • Lemongrass – 8 drops
  • Lavender – 5 drops
  • Clary-sage – 2 drops
  • Thyme – 5 drops
  • Jojoba oil – 5 drops

Use this massage mixture morning and night. When you wash your face, take care to use a pure natural soap. You can use eye makeup if you like but avoid face makeup and powder.

Treat the Flu with Aromatherapy

January 29, 2018

This is the time of year that everyone gets a flu shot and hopes they can skip getting the flu. I haven’t had a flu shot in years and I haven’t had the flu since the last time I took the flu shot either. The flu is a viral attack on your body that involves fever, tiredness, coughs, colds, muscle aches and exhaustion. How can one flu shot attempt to prevent so many different viruses that could be the cause of your flu? The best treatment for flu needs to be quick and aimed at fighting the virus as well as raising your immunity levels.

If you start to feel achy, shivery and cold, take a warm bath and add 5 drops of tea tree oil, 2 drops of lavender , and 2 drops of thyme. Next massage your whole body with 2 drops of tea tree and 3 drops of eucalyptus diluted in 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil. Then you should get in bed and rest.

You can spray your bedroom with thyme and lavender or put those oils in a diffuser. Drink plenty of liquids. You can make a special drink for your flu by combining 1 drop of clove and 2 drops of lavender. Use 1 drop of this blend in a teaspoon of honey stirred into a cup of warm water and sip slowly. You will feel better than if you took a flu shot and your arm won’t hurt either!

Always Selfie-Ready With Anti-Aging Moisturizers

Finding some great moisturizers is very important to me, as I need to have the right ones to ensure that my skin stays healthy and soft. I have naturally really dry skin and I need to have the right lotion to keep my skin smooth and soft. If I don’t have the right lotion, my skin gets so dry that it is embarrassing. Finding some great lotion online is always nice.

I have been getting some nice anti-aging lotions online and they are great for doing some double-duty for my skin. The lotions are nice for giving my skin the health that it needs, especially through the cold winter months. My skin used to always take a turn for the worst during the fall and the winter. It would get so dry that it would even crack and bleed.

My anti-aging moisturizers have been helping me to have the soft and healthy skin that I want to have. They have been ideal for my hands and my face and for my whole body. I no longer have to deal with dry and itchy skin with the lotions. They are a great way for me to keep my skin perfectly smooth so I am always ready for a selfie.

The main use of essential oils in the bathroom is to clear bacteria and viruses. Use a synergistic blend of 5 drops bergamot, 10 drops lavender, 5 drops cinnamon, 10 drops lemon, and 10 drops citronella essential oils combined with 2 1/2 cups water in a spray bottle to wipe all bathroom surfaces. This combination will kill germs and give the entire bathroom a wonderful fragrance.

Another great way to scent the bathroom is an essential oil diffuser. It is not safe to use an electric diffuser in the bathroom so be sure to use a candle-heated one. The flicker of a candle in a warm bathroom makes that relaxing bath even better. You can use the same blend above for the diffuser (without water) or try this one: 5 drops oregano, 10 drops sage, 10 drops thyme, and 20 drops lemon. To keep the bathroom smelling fresh, put two to four drops of this blend on the cardboard ring inside your toilet paper roll. The oil blend is soaked into the cardboard and releases the aroma to keep the area fragrant.

Essential oils can be used in the living room to freshen carpets, curtains, and furniture. Make a carpet freshener powder by mixing 1 drop of essential oil per tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda or borax powder. Add the essential oil to the powder and mix it well in a blender. Allow the mixture to sit overnight before using it the first time. You can make as much as you want to have on hand and store it in a ziplock bag or a sealed jar. To use the carpet freshener, sprinkle it on your carpet, leave it there for a few minutes, then vacuum. You can also add the powder directly to your vacuum bag to stop odor; add 8 drops of essential oil to a cotton ball and put it inside the bag each time you change it, or simply add 8 drops of essential oil directly onto the bag.

To get rid of streaks on freshly cleaned windows, bunch up a sheet of newspaper and put a drop of lemon, lime or grapefruit essential oil on it and polish the glass with this combination. The essential oil soaks into the newspaper and combined with the newsprint it removes streaks and creates a sparkling finish. You get an added bonus when the sun hits the glass and warms the essential oil releasing a subtle fragrance into the living room.

Make your own furniture polish and banish chemicals and synthetic fragrances from your home with this recipe: melt 8 ounces of plain unrefined beeswax in a double boiler, add 2 1/2 cups of room temperature turpentine and put it aside. Boil 2 1/2 cups water and add 2 ounces of grated pure soap (purchase at the health food store) or grated castile soap and stir until melted, then set it aside until it is cool but still warm. Slowly add the warm soap and water to the beeswax and turpentine a little at a time stirring constantly. Now add 10 drops of the essential oil of your choice and blend the entire mixture well. Store your furniture polish in a tin can or a small ice cream carton (a Ben and Jerry’s carton will work well and you get to eat the ice cream first.) You only need a small amount at a time to polish your furniture and you will be greatly rewarded for your work by the fragrance of the essential oil and the shine of your furniture.

Lastly, you can use a plant mister spray filled with 2 1/2 cups of water and 8 drops of essential oil to freshen furniture, curtains, and carpets. Since the living room is where you spend time with family and friends you will want to choose the right blend of essential oils. A calming synergistic blend includes 8 drops geranium, 3 drops clary-sage, 5 drops lemon, and 3 drops bergamot. A stimulating blend to use on a lazy afternoon includes 8 drops of grapefruit, 4 drops lavender, 4 drops lime and 2 drops of basil.

Before washers and dryers, homemakers laid their clothes on lavender or rosemary plants to dry so that the scent would permeate the garments. Today we can use essential oils in the washer, dryer, drawers, and closets to keep our clothes smelling nice and to receive even more benefits.

Add 3-5 drops of lemongrass or lavender to your rinse cycle water for wonderfully fresh smelling clothes. For a more alluring fragrance, add ylang-ylang essential oil to the final rinse. During the cold and flu season rinse your bed linens with eucalyptus, rosemary, or pine essential oil to relieve coughs throughout the night. Use a rinse of peppermint essential oil when your children have whooping cough. If insomnia is a problem, rinse linen and nightwear with marjoram, chamomile, or sweet orange blossom essential oil to aid sleep.

Add 2 drops of essential oil to a 4-inch square piece of material and put it in the dryer with your clothes. To infuse your garments with a fresh scent use lavender, rosemary, or bergamot; for a floral scent use geranium or palmarosa; for a romantic or exotic scent use ylang-ylang, jasmine, or rose essential oil.

Other uses for essential oils with clothing include:

  • Making a natural moth repellent by placing cotton balls with lavender, lemongrass, camphor, or rosemary essential oil on them between clothes in drawers.
  • Making fragrant drawer liners with no chemicals by cutting blotting paper to drawer size and dotting it with essential oils. Brush the paper with orris root powder which acts as a fixative and then shake the powder off and place the liner in your drawer.
  • Making a synergistic blend of 3 drops lavender, 2 drops sage and 5 drops of rosemary essential oil to add to sneakers and repel odor. Add this blend to a tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda and mix well. Sprinkle the mixture into sneakers and leave overnight for fresh smelling shoes the next morning. Don’t forget to tap the soda out in the morning or you will be walking around with puffs of smoke coming out of your shoes.

Kitchen smells include everything from the wonderful aroma of freshly baked cookies to the stinky smell of burnt popcorn. Kitchens have a trash area where garbage is tossed, a spot for wet coats and muddy boots, and a corner for dog bedding and the cat’s litter box. Essential oils are a natural alternative to commercial air sprays because they cleanse the air for you instead of masking odors; they are harmless to food, humans, and the ozone; and many of them are antibiotic and anti-fungal so they may even help keep you from getting sick.

  • To cleanse kitchen surfaces add 15-30 drops of any one of the following essential oils to one pint of water: eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, lime, grapefruit, pine, or lemongrass. For a kitchen synergistic blend combine the following essential oils: 10 drops lavender, 15 drops lemon, and 5 drops eucalyptus. This mixture is disinfectant, antibacterial, and leaves a lovely fragrance when used on kitchen surfaces. You can add 8-15 drops of this formula to 2 1/2 cups of water in a plant spray bottle to spray the air or surfaces.
  • To kill germs on dishtowels soak them in a bowl of boiling water and 1 drop of eucalyptus, thyme, tea tree, or lavender. Let the towels soak until the water is cool then wash as usual. This will keep your towels germ and bacteria free.
  • To lighten the chore of dishwashing and uplift your spirits at the same time, add 5 drops lime, 3 drops bergamot, 2 drops lavender, and 1 drop orange essential oil to your dishwashing liquid. The natural aroma of these essential oils will make a boring task take on a much lighter note. If you use a dishwasher, simply add 2 drops of lemon essential oil to the detergent you use in your machine and stir it before closing the door.

Essential oils lose their therapeutic properties after about two years but do not toss them out! Put two drops at a time down kitchen drains to create a nice scent when hot water runs down. Also, use them in the water you use to wash windows and trashcans both inside and out. Essential oils make kitchen work safer and much more pleasant.

My boyfriend and I love to give each other massages and it is a fun thing for us to do on the weekends. Getting some great oils of the massage kind helps us to have the most relaxing and refreshing experience possible. It is nice to find some awesome oils online and to use them to have the kind of escape that we want to have.

My boyfriend and I first got the idea of giving each other massages after he got a cool head massager as a gift from his holiday party at work. The massager is amazing and it is so cool how it works. It stimulates the nerves and it really works. I used to think that these things don’t work but it is amazing the sensations you can get with them.

We started with giving each other massages using the head massager that my boyfriend got and now we love getting some great massage oils to give each other some amazing massages after work or on the weekends. We have been finding some amazing oils online that help us to fully relax and to get into a new state of mind. The oils that we have been finding have been working well for us.
