Making your own skin-care products is simple to do and also inexpensive. Make them for yourself or as gifts for family and friends. When you make your products, be sure to label them with the name and date so they don’t get mistaken for mayonnaise in the refrigerator!

We’ll share a few recipes the rest of this week that will make products for each step of a facial routine. If you don’t have time to make your own products, simply add a drop or two of the appropriate essential oils to make your store bought products more effective.

Skin Cleansers

The first step of a facial routine is cleansing. This will rid the skin of dirt, makeup and other impurities. Cleansers get your skin ready for next steps in the facial care routine. If you have a normal complexion, you can simply give your face a gentle cleansing with a natural soap like liquid castile or Shea Butter Aloe Vera Soap.

For a dry skin cleansing solution, make the following recipe:

  • 1/4 cup aloe vera gel
  • 1 teaspoon grapeseed oil
  • 1 teaspoon glycerin
  • 5 drops rosemary essential oil

Shake the mixture well before each use. It does not make a later on the skin. Apply it with your fingers or a cotton pad and then rinse.
