Aromatherapy for Fibromyalgia

I have a friend who suffers from fibromyalgia and I’ve been searching for natural ways to help ease the pain. I have found that while aromatherapy massage is often recommended, deep or intense massage cannot be tolerated by many fibromyalgia sufferers. The alternative is to gently apply the essential oils with a light touch massage.

There are a number of testimonials that credit the relief they got to the use of essential oils. Lavender essential oil provides relaxation and can be used along with basil and marjoram, mixed with massage oil and rubbed in for spasms and cramps. Peppermint oil can also be used to stop that dull aching pain but don’t forget to dilute it in a¬†carrier oil- 25 drops to 1/2 oz of jojoba or other carrier oil. If any of our readers have used these or other aromatherapy essential oils for fibromyalgia pain relief, please post a comment.
