High blood pressure or hypertension is a medical condition in which the movement of blood flowing through the arteries is too high forcing the arterial wall to become distorted. It  is a major cause of heart disease and stroke. The three leading causes of high blood pressure include a diet high in salt, stress, alcohol, caffeine, smoking, obesity, inactivity, birth control pills and heavy metal poisoning. Many times, there are no symptoms as your pressure increases but the warning signs are chest pains, confusion, headaches, ear noise or buzzing, irregular heartbeat, nose bleeds, tiredness or vision changes.

Effective Essential Oils

  • Clary Sage – relaxes the arteries and may help decrease the risk of heart problems.
  • Ylang Ylang – known to improve blood flow and cool inflammation.
  • Frankincense – has sedating properties and promotes deep breathing and relaxation.
  • Lavender – helps reduce the effects of stress which is a cause of high blood pressure.

You can use inhalation therapy at home to lower you blood pressure. Simply fill a bowl with steaming water and add 1 drop each of frankincense, lavender, clary sage and ylang ylang essential oils. Cover your head with a soft towel and inhale for at least 3 minutes before bed.
