Do you go to the gym a lot these days? It’s January and we all made resolutions to be healthier this year. While you’re becoming more healthy, remember to keep your feet healthy too and don’t spread athletes foot to your family if you contract it at the gym. Always wear flip flops at the gym – going to the pool as well as in the shower. There are sprays and creams containing chemicals out there that are designed to help with this, but there are also natural alternatives. In particular, athlete’s foot can be treated with certain essential oils.

Tea tree oil can help kill the fungus  that causes athletes foot from forming and help provide relief.

Soak – Create a foot soak by using a mixture of 3 parts almond oil, 10 parts tea tree essential oil, and a bowl of warm water. Then soak the feet for 30 minutes twice daily until relief comes.

Rub – Additionally, you can mix the oil with a carrier oil like almond or coconut oil and then rub it onto the affected area.

Peppermint oil contains menthol which can help provide relief for the inflammation this condition causes.

Mix a teaspoon of the oil with a half cup of rolled oats and ¼ cup of sea salt. Massage into the feet twice daily to help add comfort to your feet while the condition heals.

Lemon oil helps combat infections and is great in fighting fungal infections in particular.

Mix 10 drops of lemon oil, 10 drops of sweet almond oil, and a liter of warm water and soak for thirty minutes.

Lavender oil can provide relaxation, improve stress symptoms and also helps with skin conditions.

Massage it directly onto the effective areas, or mix it with lotion and massage into the feet thoroughly. Then, wear socks and go to sleep. This keeps your feet wrapped in healing oil for several hours.

Eucalyptus oil has strong antibacterial properties that can help hydrate and replenish the skin while it helps to fight against athletes foot.

Massage it directly onto the affected areas, another option is to mix it with lotion and massage it into the feet thoroughly. Then, wear socks and go to sleep thus keeping your feet wrapped in healing oil for several hours.
