Skin Tightening Products Help Me Melt Away My Wrinkles

As I have gotten older, I have started to hate the image that I see each time I look into a mirror more and more. It is very difficult for me to watch my face age and change before my eyes. I don’t like the way that my eyes have started to look more wrinkly and the way my face seems to sag. For this reason, I have begun to look for a variety of products that can help to tighten my skin.

It has been fairly easy for me to find a wide selection of products that are ones that are perfect for skin tightening and making these wrinkles just meld away. With a combination of natural skin creams and many other anti aging products, I have managed to make it so that I look so much younger on the whole. It is great to be able to see a new me whenever I look in the mirror.

Being able to make myself look young again is something that I am really happy about. It feels so much better to know that my face is starting to look so much more beautiful as a result of all of the great anti aging products that I have been using on a regular basis.

Yesterday I mentioned carpal tunnel syndrome in a blog discussing oregano essential oil. That started me thinking about my own carpal tunnel and I did a little digging for more remedies for carpal tunnel and I found a blend in Valerie Ann Worwood’s book, “The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy.”

Carpal tunnel is the compression of nerves or tendons in the wrist. It is usually found in people who use the wrists in the same way for long periods, like me – I’m at the computer at least 8 to 10 hours a day. To alleviate the problem, massage your wrists and fore arms twice a day with the 2-3 drops of the blend below diluted in a teaspoon of carrier oil.

Using Oregano Essential Oil

Aristotle, the Greek philosopher noticed that turtles who ate snakes ate oregano right afterwords. The oregano appeared to keep them from being poisoned or getting sick, so he started recommending it as an antidote for poisoning from snake bites. There are many practical uses for oregano today and here are just a few for you to try.

  • Put 2-3 drops in 1 ounce of sweet almond oil and rub it on the chest and throat for allergies, asthma, bronchitis, and congestion. You can also use 2-3 drops in a steam inhalation for the same ailments.
  • Put 2-3 drops in a carrier oil and massage the affected area for arthritis, backache, carpal tunnel syndrome, muscular pain and rheumatism.
  • Put 2-3 drops in a diffuser or 8-10 drops in your night time bath water for chronic fatigue syndrome, insomnia, or nervous tension.
  • Put 2-3 drops in 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage the affected area daily for cellulite. The same mixture can be used as needed for fungal infections.
  • Put 2-3 drops in 1 ounce of liquid shea oil and massage on the temples and neck to get rid of headaches and migraines. You can also put this mixture on a hot or cold compress.
  • Put 2-3 drops in 1 ounce of jojoba oil and rub it on the chest and abdomen for indigestion.

To promote menstruation or alleviate premenstrual syndrome, use 2-3 drops in a carrier oil and massage on the lower abdomen and lower back. A hot compress using this mix also works for these symptom, as well as using 8-10 drops in the bath water.

To increase lymphatic circulation, use 2-3 drops in a carrier oil and massage all over the body. For sprains and swelling, use 2-3 drops on a cold compress. To boost the immune system after an illness, use 2-3 drops in a diffuser. Oregano mixes well (in case you want to make a synergistic blend) with cedar, basil, bergamot, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, orange, rosemary, tea tree and thyme.

Halloween Party Souvenirs

Yesterday we talked about having a Halloween party using essential oils. and I know this is the day after Halloween but maybe you can use it for next year. If you have enough adult supervision at your party, candles will give a magical effect to your decorations. You can fragrance your candles with cedarwood, pine or vetiver to give off a deep and mysterious fragrance to the atmosphere.

Send your guests home with a Halloween party witches’ broom souvenir. Gather twigs for the brooms and soak them in water scented with a strong woody fragrance like pine or cypress. You can also use an earthy scent like vetiver. Let the twigs dry and then tie them into bundles. You can threaten to give them to only the good witches but when you actually pass them out, please give to all the guests, good and bad alike.

An Aromatherapy Halloween Party

Children and adults both love Halloween parties – all those costumes and games bring lots of laughter and delight. You can make your guests, children and adults, special cakes and cookies. You can make those treats magical by flavoring your favorite cupcake recipe with a tiny amount of geranium or sandalwood essential oil.

Play your favorite games at the party but add a little bit of aromatherapy drama and flair. Get a piece of self lighting charcoal, the kind sold in specialty stores that stock incense, light it and put it in a heat resistant ash catcher. When the charcoal has started to burn and has a white ash on top, place 2-4 drops of essential oil on it. This will start to billow very fragrant smoke and will impress your Halloween guests. Use a heavy essential oil like patchouli or a woodsy scent like cedarwood. If any of your guests are afraid a real witch is coming, (because of your ghost stories) you can use frankincense to scare away the evil spirits.

Yesterday we talked about the four levels of stress and I started giving you recipes for stresses in level two. Today I have recipes for stresses in levels one and three. You can use one of the following three blends  for general use. First, 15 drops of clary-sage, 10 drops of lemon and 5 drops of lavender. Second, 15 drops of marjoram, 10 drops of lemon and 5 drops of chamomile. Last, 17 drops of pettigraine, 8 drops of nutmeg and 5 drops of neroli.

I also have some formulas you can try for more specific uses. Remember you can use the blend in a diffuser or a spray bottle. If you can not use either of those methods on the job, put one or two drops on a tissue and sniff it occasionally during the day at work. At night take a bath and use 6 to 8 drops of your blend in the bath water and also make a massage oil to rub over your body before bed.

  • 10 drops lemon

  • 5 drops clary-sage

  • 12 drops pettigraine
  • 10 drops nutmeg
  • 8 drops sandalwood

Muscular Pain

Unexplained Aches and Chills

  • 15 drops ginger
  • 10 drops lavender
  • 5 drops cardamom

Digestive Problems

  • 15 drops coriander
  • 10 drops grapefruit
  • 5 drops cypress

Essential oils can be used in either of two ways: in the environment around you or directly on your body.

Environmental Methods

Diffusers – Room diffusers can be electric or with just a tea light candle. Just follow the directions that come with the diffuser.

Sprays – You can easily make a very effective anti-infectious room spray using water and essential oils. Since water and oil don’t mix, you can add an emulsifier such as a little colorless alcohol or a vegetable oil like red turkey oil to help emulsify them, then shake your spray bottle well before each spray. I keep a bottle at work to spray when sick people come to work. That helps keep me healthy.

Physical Methods

Body Sprays – Body sprays are easy to make and you can keep them with you, either in your pocket or your purse. Blend your choice of essential oils, add water and a small amount of emulsifier. You can use a hydrolat instead of water because they have antibacterial properties of their own. Whichever you use, shake the mixture very well and store it for 24 hours before using. Shake the bottle a few times during the 24 hour wait. When the time is up, filter the blend through and unbleached paper coffee filter and add it to a spray bottle. You can spray this around you in the room and on your body.

Baths – Aromatherapy baths are excellent for relieving the symptoms of colds and flu or for sore and achy muscles. When my muscles are sore after a strenuous workout, I like to use 8 drops of rosemary and lavender blended in my bath and I’ll soak until the water starts to cool.

Body Oils – For body oils, use a carrier oil like sweet almond oil or jojoba oil blended with no more than 30 drops of essential oil per ounce of carrier oil. Choose oils that work for you symptoms and apply the body oil before bed so the essential oils can work while you sleep. You can also apply the body oil before taking a bath so the body absorbs the oil by osmosis and inhalation.

Paper Tissues -Use 1 or two drops of your choice of essential oil on a tissue and inhale as needed. I like to use this method at work since I don’t need anything special – except my essential oil. I like to keep a bottle of peppermint oil at work for those times when I get sleepy, a couple of whiffs of peppermint and I’m good to go again.

Disposable Face Masks

If you are traveling via train or plane, it is good to wear a disposable face mask. Don’t wet the mask because that negates its purpose. Simply add a drop of either eucalyptus, lavender or tea tree on a tissue and place the folded tissue inside the face mask. Let the oil disperse on the tissue before placing it inside the mask.
