Lavender essential oil is the most basic oil to have in your home because it is extremely effective in treating burns and scalds, heals minor wounds, scrapes and scratches, soothes insect bites, and is great for problem skin. Lavender can be put directly on the affected area straight from the bottle because it is powerful but gentle.

Lavender’s properties of antiseptic, antibiotic, antidepressant, detoxifier and sedative allow healing to occur more quickly and prevent scarring. It also accelerates the immune system and speeds the healing process because it stimulates the wound’s cells to rejuvenate more quickly. The next time you burn yourself in the kitchen, or cut yourself shaving, put a drop or two of lavender on the wound two to four times a day until it is healed.

Lavender essential oil is also extremely helpful for you when you are under stress of any kind. If it is the only essential oil in your medicine cabinet it can help to relieve stress from fatigue, over achievement, taking exams, anguish over procrastination, financial worries, overexertion, too much caffeine, etc. by itself. When synergistically blended with other essential oils, lavender becomes even stronger in your quest against stress.
