We are continuing to discuss “aromassage” as a valuable method of using essential oils as part of the healing process when using aromatherapy. In previous blogs we have discussed which essential oils to use for sore or fatigued muscles (See Essential Oil Muscle Relief). You can always look at the archived blogs if you have any questions. Now let’s look at what kind of aromassage to use for different parts of the body.

  • Shoulders – aromassage into the shoulder muscles with both effleurage and petrissage movements. Make firm strokes from the shoulder to the neck and back again using thumbs and palms.
  • Arms – aromassage up towards the armpit, using effleurage or petrissage on the fatty or muscular areas only.
  • Back – Use firm or gentle effleurage or petrissage but do not massage over the vertebrae. Start from the lower part of the back and with both hands stroke all the way to the shoulders. Slide your hands over the shoulders and then return down the sides of the back. Repeat these strokes as many times as you like, the longer you aromassage, the more relaxing it is.
  • Abdomen – only use circular movements on the abdomen and move in a clockwise direction. Effleurage is the best method to use on the abdomen.
  • Legs – use effleurage to aromassage the legs and always move upwards. You can use petrissage on the fatty or muscular areas only but not over varicosed areas.
  • Women’s reproductive problems- aromassage using effleurage movements beginning at the lower back and sliding over the hips. Then slide each hand over the abdomen separately and repeat the whole process.
  • Feet – aromasssage from the toes to the heel with the thumbs under the foot and the fingers on top.

All massage should flow as the blood does, toward the heart. After an aerobic workout, aromassage is useful to release toxins and keep your muscles supple.

Aromatherapy massage or aromassage is an excellent way to apply essential oils as part of an alternative healing process. It is not hard to do and anyone can do it to family, friends, even to yourself. There are many different ways to apply aromassage:

  • Effleurage – this is a series of gentle, soothing strokes which allow essential oils to penetrate your body and help you to relax and become calm. For this method, use your whole hands in  either long or short strokes that can be either firm or gentle.
  • Petrissage – is similar to gently kneading dough. Use the palm, finger tips and thumbs to slowly and gently knead the body. Petrissage is most helpful when used on fatty areas and on backs.
  • Head massage – put the essential oils  on your fingertips to massage the scalp. Work the fingers all over the scalp.
  • For migraine and headaches – massage around the base of the neck and work your way up to the base of the scalp. Massage in this manner for a few moments with firm effleurage strokes.
  • For the neck – massage the neck using small, firm circular movements from the base of the neck, up either side of the vertebrae to the base of the scalp. Massage the sides of the neck and repeat these movements in a more gentle fashion and work your way down the neck. Repeat several times using appropriate essential oils.

We will continue this blog with more areas for you to massage.

My husband and I love to give each other massages and it is a fun thing for us to do on the weekends and especially now that we’re socially distancing due to Coronavirus. Getting great massage oils helps us to have the most relaxing and refreshing experience possible. It is nice to find massage oils online and use them to have the escape that we want.

We first got the idea of giving each other massages after we got a gag hand massage tool as a gift from a holiday party game. The massage tool is amazing and it is so cool how it works. It stimulates the nerves and it really works. I used to think that these things don’t work but it is amazing the sensations you can get with them.

We started with giving each other massages using the hand massager  and now we love using massage oils to give each other an amazing massage after work or on the weekend. We can find amazing oils online that help us to fully relax and get into a new state of mind. The oils have been working well for us.

massage fat blasterHere are some strategies to help you on your journey to get rid of cellulite:

  1. Use a brush of real bristles to increase blood circulation by brushing in upward movements all over your body. When you finish with your shower, turn on the cold water (I use a hand held shower head) and use upward movements on the hardest setting especially on your thighs and upper arms.
  2. Perform exercises that specifically work the areas where you have cellulite. These are often places that don’t get much exercise and therefore they gather toxic waste in your body like stagnant water.
  3. Massage your whole body every day, not just the cellulite areas. Cellulite may only show in certain areas but it is a whole body problem.
  4. Use essential oils in your bath, they enter your skin by osmosis. While you are soaking in the tub, thump and bash cellulite areas to help break down those fat deposits.
  5. A healthy body needs oxygen so breathing deeply is very important. Breathing exercises actually help shift cellulite and can make an impressive difference.
  6. Take time to relax as relaxation is needed to let the body shift waste and fat deposits. In contrast, stress causes cellulite to stick around.

celluliteThose dimples on your hips, thighs, stomach and buttocks are actually pockets of fat that are very unsightly. The causes of cellulite can be anything from poor circulation and a lack of oxygen to water retention or hormonal changes. It could be related to anything from poor lymph drainage to menstrual cycle problems. Whatever the cause of your cellulite, there are several things you can do to lessen or eliminate it from your body.

Treatment for cellulite is not easy and may be a lifelong struggle if it runs in your family genetically. There are some things you can do whatever the cause of your cellulite. The first thing to do when you attack cellulite is to pay attention to your diet. You may be able to reverse that cellulite by changing your diet. Eat lots of fresh vegetables, buy free-range chickens, turkeys and eggs, organically grown whole grain bread, pulses (beans) and rice. Drink only spring water, fruit juices and herb teas. Do not eat dairy products from cows and cut out any fermented foods. Do eat raw cabbage. It is the best food in the world to eliminate toxins from your body.

Here are four anti-cellulite essential oil synergistic blends.  You can try two oils that you already have or two that you wish to try. I usually use the blend that smells the best to me. My favorite of these blends is the rosemary and juniper blend but sage and patchouli are also nice. Whichever you choose, remember to massage your cellulite areas while they are under water. For all of these blends, use the following proportions for use in the future or use the quantity below for two baths. Use only 6 drops per bath.

Young Looking Hands

We put makeup on our faces and go to the gym to keep our bodies in shape but if we don’t take care of our hands all that is a waste of time. The first place that shows age spots is your hands and add that to loose wrinkled skin on the backs of your hands and your hands are telling everyone that you are older than your beautiful face looks! If you work with your hands a lot, this stretches the skin even more and everyone exposes their hands to dirt, grease, grime, heavy detergents, and dish soaps etc. everyday. We really should wear rubber gloves when we do this kind of work with our hands but I don’t bother with it, do you?

Essential oils can help you keep your hands looking their best. Couple your essential oils with a good hand cream and you’ll have the whole family using your hand cream very quickly. Use any of the following essential oils with your hand cream and your hands will look their best in no time: rosemary, geranium, sandalwood, patchouli, lavender, rose, lemon, lime, or carrot. You might want to price the essential oils first because you don’t have to use an expensive one.

You can also mix the hand cream as you use it by putting some cream in your hand and adding one or two drops of the essential oil of your choice as you go. I like to use geranium usually because it smells so nice but if I have a cut or scrape (I’m a klutz in the kitchen) I often use lavender essential oil. Any of the oils mentioned above will work to make your hands as beautiful as the rest of you.
